We are a full service contractor supplying labor and material for all concrete, masonry, and framing phases of construction. 

Position Overview 

The Estimator is primarily responsible for preparing accurate estimates, detailed material packages, and schedules for the concrete, masonry and framing phases of assigned one to three story single family and multifamily residential buildings. 

Essential Functions 

Analyze plans, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare detailed take-offs which include the labor and material needed to complete the slab, block, beam, deck, and roof carpentry phases of construction. 

Using discretion and independent judgment, provides detailed analysis of material packages, labor rates, and schedules for Director of Estimating review. 

Assist Director of Estimating and field Area Manager to prepare for and direct job kick-off meeting. 

Visit job sites as needed to clarify scope, plans or specifications. 

Prepare progress schedules. 

Assess and monitor cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. 

Recommend plan changes and adjustments to material packages and/or piece counts to Director of Estimating, Project Manager, Builder Representative, USI Supervisor or Area Manager. 

Utilize the OnCenter On-Screen Takeoff and OnCenter Quickbid software to calculate takeoffs, prepare bids and material packages, and maintain updated material counts as projects progress. 

Verify block counts for Accounting. 

Required Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Drafting, Construction Sciences, Engineering, or related field/equivalent experience 

At least five (5) years experience in construction estimating 

Candidate must be proficient and experienced in performing quantity takeoffs 

Computer literate with emphasis on Excel. AutoCad experience is beneficial. 

Bid preparation, quantity take-offs, cost analysis and project scheduling experience 

Proficiency in blueprint reading 

Proficiency in using a digitizer and/or OnScreen takeoff software 

Knowledge of how estimating affects all other areas of the company 

Knowledge of competitive bid process 

Excellent written and oral communication skills 

Team player with excellent communication skills 

Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills 

Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy 

Ability to multi-task and maintain ability to prepare accurate quotes while working under time lines

Position requires critical thinking skills 

Ability to work independently; self-directed, takes initiative in seeking efficiencies of processes; follow-through on implementation
