Closing: Open Until Filled This position is based on a 40 hour work week with a pay range of $15.11- $22.03 per hour. This position will work at Public Services Building located at 1749 3rd Avenue South, Lake Worth, FL 33460. In addition, this position offers:

SUMMARY: Skilled work at the journeyman level in construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings, structures, machinery and mechanical equipment etc., and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. The required work involves the knowledge of a variety of mechanical and/or construction trades and the general construction, repair and maintenance tasks. Work assignments are reviewed in process and upon completion for compliance with instructions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Acts as lead man in construction and maintenance assignments 

 Performs a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to building, structures and related facilities.

 Makes shelving, fits doors, install hardware, makes cabinets; performs rough carpentry work in constructing forms, barricades, boxes and other articles; performs finished carpentry in the construction of new installation. 

 Builds forms and pours concrete floors, walls and footings; lays blocks in the construction of auxiliary buildings and walls 

 Erects chains link fences; operates a variety of power equipment, such as bench saws, planers, band saws and joiners 

 Performs routine plastering and painting assignments; installs asphalt, vinyl and ceramic tile. 

 Drives a truck to transport men and materials to and from work sites; operates variety types of gasoline powered equipment and performs minor repairs thereon 

 Orders and maintains inventory of supplies, tools and equipment. 

 Performs related work as required. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY: 

 Knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques used in the construction and repair of building structures. 

 Knowledge of carpentry and skill in the use of related hand and power tools as well as a variety of mechanical trades 

 Knowledge of related occupational hazards and standard safety precautions. 

 Ability to plan and direct the work of skilled and semiskilled tradesmen. 

 Ability to read and work from blueprints and sketches. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: HS diploma or GED. Considerable journeyman level experience in a variety of construction, mechanical and general trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Current valid Florida driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
